The recruitment process for the positions of director or principal in AICTE-affiliated institutes may undergo changes according to an expert panel's recommendations. Currently, it is required to have guided at least two Ph.D candidates and published a minimum of eight research papers in approved academic journals to be eligible for these posts. However, the panel suggests expanding the eligibility criteria. They propose considering other alternatives such as individuals who have founded or co-founded start-ups or incubation units recognized by MSMEs, or industry experts holding at least two utility patents. The panel also recommends additional criteria, including candidates who have authored four books, organized four conferences, developed an applicable MOOC course, or hold a postgraduate certificate, diploma, or degree in management or public administration. These recommendations are currently open for public feedback before they are included in an official notification.
