Tata Nexon is set to receive a significant update soon with a facelift expected to launch in August this year. Recently, leaked patent filings by Tata Motors have revealed details about the new HVAC console design that will be featured in the 2023 Nexon facelift.
The console will have a hybrid touch-sensitive "Climate control panel" that has been trademarked by the company. This new panel design is different from anything Tata has done before, even for their premium SUVs like the Harrier and Safari. The interior of the Nexon facelift will reflect the Curvv concept, and the HVAC console will also follow the same design theme.
The design shows that the panel will be integrated and mainly consist of a touch-based screen and two toggle switches. Above and below the toggles, there are sets of touch controls. The top row includes toggles for Sport mode, front and rear fog lamps, Eco mode, hazard lights, tailgate release, central locking, 360-degree camera, and an auto start/stop button. The lower row features an Xpress cool function dedicated to climate management options.
Tata has decided to retain physical toggle switches for the blower and temperature settings, as they are frequently used features in the car. However, since this is just a design patent, there is no guarantee that these features will make it into production. It is worth noting that a unified panel is more cost-effective to manufacture compared to a mix of touch and physical controls.
In terms of engine options for the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift, it might come with the brand-new 1.2L turbo-petrol engine showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 with the Curvv ICE concept. This three-cylinder engine can generate 225 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 3,500 rpm and 125 bhp of maximum power at 5,000 rpm.
The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift is expected to launch in the Indian market within the next few months. With the comprehensive improvements made to the model, there might also be a price increase. Some of the Nexon's competitors in the sub-4-meter SUV segment include the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, and Renault Kiger.
