The chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Singh, has gained attention for his recent speech in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. During the speech, Singh indirectly criticized protesting wrestlers through poetic lines without naming them.
Singh began his address by sharing emotional lines about love, suffering, and betrayal. He stated, "Sometimes you bear tears, sorrow, and sometimes even poison. Only then do you become able to live and face society. This is the reward I have received for my love, they call me unfaithful. Call it notoriety or fame, they take my name with pursed lips."
These remarks were made during the BJP's 'Mahasampark Abhiyan' event for the upcoming 2024 elections. Singh, who is also a BJP MP, announced his intention to run for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections again from the Kaiserganj constituency, despite facing allegations of sexual harassment.
When questioned about the wrestlers' protest and why he hadn't commented on it, Singh responded by saying he was waiting for the court's verdict.
Despite facing potential action from the Delhi Police, who have recorded statements from over 200 individuals related to the case against him and plan to file a chargesheet by June 15, Singh remains defiant. The protesting wrestlers accused him of using his influence to pressure sexual harassment victims and coerce them into changing their statements. They threatened to resume their protest if decisive action was not taken against Singh by June 15.
Singh has denied the allegations and claimed that Congress leaders from Haryana conspired to defame him due to the reforms he implemented as the WFI chief.
