The president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Indore was reportedly physically assaulted by other members of the organization in front of the chief of the Madhya Pradesh unit. Videos of the incident were widely shared on social media on Sunday. The altercation took place at a restaurant in the Bhanwarkuan area on Saturday and was recorded by CCTV cameras installed there.
According to witnesses, the fight started when the city president of BJYM, Saugata Mishra, allegedly made derogatory comments about the father of his colleague, Shubendra Goud, in the presence of Vaibhav Pawar, the MP chief of the organization. During the argument, Mishra was allegedly attacked by supporters of Goud, as stated by the eyewitnesses.
Initially, Mishra downplayed the incident as a normal altercation when he arrived at the BJP office in the city. However, later he accused Goud of orchestrating the attack through "goons." A BJYM official mentioned that Rahul Tiwari, the state general secretary, has sent a notice to Goud and requested his response regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Vivek Tripathi, the chairperson of the media department of the Youth Congress, shared two videos of the incident on Twitter and questioned why the police had not taken action against the BJYM members involved.
