Sukanta Majumdar, the BJP state president, stated that Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and Sharad Pawar, the leader of the National Congress Party (NCP), are similar in their approach to promoting familial politics in their respective states.
Sukanta Majumdar, the BJP state president, stated that Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and Sharad Pawar, the leader of the National Congress Party (NCP), are similar in their approach to promoting familial politics in their respective states. According to Majumdar, while Pawar is trying to establish his daughter Supriya Sule in politics, Mamata Banerjee is doing the same for her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. This statement was made by Majumdar during a media address at New Jalpaiguri station in North Bengal.
It should be noted that Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar's nephew and the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, recently resigned from the NCP and took oath as Deputy Chief Minister in the ruling alliance of the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party government. Mamata Banerjee reached out to Sharad Pawar to express solidarity during this political crisis.
Majumdar further stated that there has been growing discontent within both the NCP and the Trinamool Congress regarding the attempts by their leaders to establish political lineage within the parties. He claimed that these attempts to promote family members are causing dissatisfaction among party members. If the forthcoming West Bengal panchayat polls are conducted in a free and fair manner, Majumdar believes that the Trinamool Congress will face a disaster and many members will leave the party. He even went as far as to predict the eventual demise of the Trinamool Congress.
