Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has announced a thorough investigation into a video involving Kirit Somaiya, a BJP leader. The video allegedly shows Somaiya in a compromising position and was repeatedly shown on a Marathi TV channel on Monday. The matter was raised in the Upper House of the state legislature on Tuesday.
Fadnavis acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and assured that a detailed investigation would be conducted. The woman in the video will be identified, and the police will be informed. Fadnavis emphasized that nobody involved would be protected, and a high-level probe would be carried out. This response came after Ambadas Danve, the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, and Anil Parab, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders, brought up the issue.
Meanwhile, amid the uproar in the state legislature, Somaiya wrote a letter to Fadnavis, requesting an inquiry into the video's authenticity. He also took to Twitter to assert that he had never mistreated a woman.
