Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai stated that there have been no discussions at the state level regarding an electoral understanding with the JD(S) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai stated that there have been no discussions at the state level regarding an electoral understanding with the JD(S) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. He also mentioned that predicting the future of politics is challenging. The BJP is monitoring the discussions in the media about potential alliances against the ruling Congress in Karnataka. Bommai clarified that no discussions have taken place yet and they will have to wait and see how things unfold. There have been talks in the press and various channels about uniting other parties to counter the Congress, and the BJP is observing these developments. Reports had emerged suggesting that the JD(S) might form an alliance with the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls, with JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy meeting senior BJP leaders during his visit to New Delhi. However, Kumaraswamy recently stated that a decision on electoral understanding will be made when the situation arises, and currently, there is no proposal for him to contest the Parliamentary elections. In the previous Lok Sabha polls, the BJP emerged victorious by winning 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, while one seat was won by an independent candidate supported by the BJP. The Congress and JD(S) secured one seat each.
