Rohit Sharma's Disappointment in Bowling Performance after WTC Final Loss

Team India suffered a 209-run defeat at the hands of Australia led by Pat Cummins in the second consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval. Despite chasing a massive target of 444, Rohit Sharma and his team could only manage a score of 234 before getting bowled out on the final day. With this victory, Australia becomes the first team to hold all the ICC trophies. The Indian top-order struggled in the second innings during their pursuit of the 444-run target on the fourth day. Although Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane had a partnership, they could only add 15 runs to their overnight score before losing wickets rapidly. Scott Boland dismissing Kohli for 49 seemed to open the floodgates for India as they lost the remaining 6 wickets within the next hour. After the loss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment with the team's bowling performance. He mentioned that they started well by winning the toss and putting Australia to bat in favorable conditions. However, the bowlers lost their way, and the partnership between Travis Head and Steve Smith caught them off guard. Despite the defeat, Rohit acknowledged the fighting spirit shown by the team and credited the Australian batters for their excellent performance. This was India's second consecutive WTC Final, but they were unable to clinch the ICC title once again. In 2021, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India lost to New Zealand by 8 wickets in Southampton. Reflecting on the team's hard work over the past four years, Rohit Sharma emphasized their achievements in reaching two consecutive finals. He expressed the desire to go further and credited the entire team for their efforts. Although they couldn't emerge as winners, Rohit mentioned that the team will stay positive and continue fighting.
