Maruti Invicto Launches at Affordable Price

Maruti Suzuki has launched its new flagship MPV, the Invicto, in India at a starting price of Rs 24.79 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The Invicto is available in two trims: Zeta+ and Alpha+, and it offers two seating configurations.

The Maruti Invicto is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross and is exclusively available with an automatic transmission. The Invicto is manufactured at Toyota's Bidadi plant, alongside the Hycross. It is the eighth product to be introduced through Maruti Suzuki's Nexa dealership.

Exterior-wise, the Invicto shares most of its design language with the Hycross but features a slightly different grille with two thick, horizontal chrome slats extending into the headlights. The front bumper and faux skid plates are also unique to the Invicto. The 17-inch alloy wheels have a distinct design, and the tail-lights follow Nexa's three-block design.

In terms of dimensions, the Invicto matches the Innova Hycross, measuring 4,755mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,795mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm.

Moving inside, the Invicto's interior closely resembles that of the Hycross. It features an all-black interior with Champagne Gold accents and can be configured with either seven or eight seats. The boot space is 239 litres, expandable up to 690 litres when the third row is folded down.

The Invicto comes equipped with several notable features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, a powered driver's seat, a powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, cupholders, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and more than 50 Suzuki Connect features. Safety features include six airbags, ABS, electronic parking brake, stability control, and hill start assist.

Under the hood, the Invicto boasts a strong-hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. Combined, they produce 184 horsepower and are mated to an e-CVT. The Invicto offers an electric-only mode and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds (claimed), with a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24 km/l.

The Invicto is built on Toyota's TNGA-C 'High' platform and features a monocoque chassis. It has a transversely mounted engine that sends power to the front wheels.

As for its competitors, the Invicto primarily goes up against the Toyota Innova Hycross. It could have also competed with the Kia Carnival, but the Carnival was recently discontinued due to non-compliance with the BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. In terms of similarly priced three-row SUVs, it can be compared to models like the Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.
