A group of men forcefully entered a hotel room in Karnataka's Haveri district, where an interfaith couple was staying. The incident occurred on January 7, and the victims reported the assault to the police, leading to a case against the attackers. Videos of the assault, recorded by the assailants, surfaced on social media.
The footage reveals six men, reportedly from a minority community, knocking on the lodge room's door in Hanagal Taluk of Haveri District. Upon opening the door, they entered and confronted the woman. The attackers verbally abused the couple and filmed the woman, who attempted to shield her face with a burqa.
In a separate incident in Belagavi on January 9, seven men were arrested for assaulting two cousins, wrongly assuming them to be an interfaith couple. The attackers persisted in beating the boy and girl even after they clarified that they were cousins.
