England's cricketer Jonny Bairstow achieved a significant but unfortunate milestone during the fourth Ashes Test on July 21. He scored an impressive 99 runs without getting dismissed. Bairstow became only the second English player to reach this score without reaching a century in an Ashes match. England dominated the Test match, gaining a 275-run lead in the first innings. Notably, six players scored more than 50 runs in the first innings.
During the match, Bairstow displayed great form and scored his 25th Test fifty in the first session. However, due to the lack of support from the lower-order batsmen, he couldn't reach his century. With James Anderson's dismissal, Bairstow became only the second English batter, following Geoffrey Boycott, to be unbeaten on 99 in an Ashes Test.
England's strong performance continued throughout the match. They bowled out Australia for 317 in their first innings and then achieved a massive total of 592 in their own innings, with Zak Crawley scoring an impressive 189 runs. Australia faced a challenge in their second innings, trailing England by 197 runs with a score of 78/2 at the time of writing.
