Prime Minister Narendra Modi will watch the Chandrayaan-3 moon landing virtually from Johannesburg, where he's attending the BRICS Summit. The event is expected to happen on Wednesday evening. The PM might even talk about this achievement later. He has other events lined up in Johannesburg, including speaking at a diaspora community event and a business forum after the moon landing attempt.
The landing attempt of Chandrayaan-3 will also be watched at the CSIR headquarters in Delhi by Dr Jitendra Singh, the minister of state for the department of space, along with scientific secretaries. They'll be keeping an eye on the soft landing of the Vikram Lander.
Chandrayaan-3's historic landing will take place around 6 pm IST on Wednesday, and it will target the moon's south pole region.
Back in 2019, during the Chandrayaan-2 mission, PM Modi had been at the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru when the mission didn't succeed. He encouraged the scientists then, saying we should learn from mistakes and persist till we succeed.
He had conveyed his support to the scientists, mentioning that India is proud of them and their efforts. He acknowledged their hard work and determination, expressing his belief that they will find the answers to the challenges they faced during the mission.
