Reliance Foundation's athletes performed exceptionally well at the 62nd Inter-State Athletics Championships, securing a total of 20 medals (8 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze). Seven athletes from Reliance Foundation surpassed the qualifying mark for the Asian Games, while five athletes broke the meet records in their respective events.
The relay teams of Odisha, consisting of three athletes from the Reliance Foundation Athletics High-Performance Center, showcased remarkable performances. Jyoti won the women's 100m race comfortably but narrowly missed the Asian Games qualification by a fraction of a second. However, she bounced back by winning the 100m hurdles, surpassing the Asian qualifying standard. She also secured a silver medal in the women's 4x100m relay. The Odisha men's 4x100m relay team, including Sabita, Sukhi, and Bonita from the Odisha RF HPC, won a bronze medal.
Notable achievements include Amlan Borgohain breaking a 23-year-old record in the 200m event with a time of 20.71s, surpassing Anil Kumar's previous record of 20.80s. Jinson Johnson remained unbeaten in 2023 and achieved the Asian Games qualification standard in the 1500m event, winning gold with a timing of 3:42.77. Kishore Kumar Jena, a Reliance Foundation athlete, secured a silver medal and surpassed the Asian Games qualifying mark in the Javelin Throw with a personal best throw of 82.87m. Jyothi Yarraji and Mohammed Afsal also met the qualification standard for the Asian Games in the women's 100m hurdles and men's 800m events, respectively.
Reliance Foundation athletes contributed significantly to their respective states' relay teams. The Odisha men's 4x100m relay team, with Abhishek Dalabehera, Laluprasad Bhoi, and DM Jayaram, won a silver medal. Similarly, Sabita Toppo, Bonita Lakra, and Sukhi Baskey formed part of the Odisha women's 4x100m relay team, securing a bronze medal. Elakkiyadasan played a crucial role in Tamil Nadu's victory in the men's 4x100m relay, while Jyothi led Andhra Pradesh to a silver medal in the women's 4x100m relay event.
