India dominated Day 1 of the 1st Test against West Indies. Ravichandran Ashwin, making a comeback after being left out of the WTC final, took five wickets to put India in a strong position. West Indies struggled and were bowled out for only 150 runs. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with three wickets.
In their batting innings, captain Rohit Sharma (30*) and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal (40*) formed an unbeaten partnership of 80 runs, reducing the first innings deficit to 70. India has the upper hand going into the second day.
