Mahabharata actor Gajendra Chauhan strongly criticized the movie Adipurush and called for it to be banned. Directed by Om Raut and featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, Adipurush has faced backlash for its colloquial dialogues and alleged misrepresentation of characters from the Hindu epic Ramayana. Despite some controversial dialogues being altered due to public outcry, Gajendra stated that the damage had already been done. He expressed that any improvements made wouldn't make a difference and that the filmmakers had already faced consequences in terms of negative audience response and box office collections. Gajendra also expressed surprise at the decisions of the censor board and called for them to be questioned. He demanded the complete ban of the film, emphasizing that the government should intervene immediately.
Furthermore, Gajendra criticized the dialogue writer for Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir, accusing him of ignorance and failing to acknowledge his mistake. Gajendra claimed that Manoj, who is primarily a lyricist, had taken dialogues from social media videos of other writers without giving proper credit. He specifically mentioned a dialogue by Kumar Vishwas, "I will set your Lanka on fire," which was included in the film. Gajendra condemned Manoj's behavior, stating that his arrogance was inappropriate for any artist.
In response to the controversy surrounding the dialogues of Lord Hanuman in Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir defended them by stating that Lord Hanuman was not considered a deity but a devotee. He explained that they had elevated his status to that of a god due to the power of his devotion. This statement by Manoj received criticism from netizens who were displeased with his perspective.
