GV Prakash Kumar is an Indian music composer, playback singer, actor, and producer who primarily works in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. He started his career as a composer in the Tamil film industry with the movie "Veyil" in 2006. Although "Veyil" didn't bring him much fame initially, his music in the film was highly appreciated and helped him secure more projects.
His breakthrough came when he composed music for the film "Aadukalam" in 2010. His collaboration with actor Dhanush and director Vetri Maaran was a huge success. GV Prakash Kumar won his first Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for "Aadukalam," and Dhanush and Vetri Maaran received the National Award for their outstanding work in the film.
"Aadukalam" won several accolades, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor at the 58th National Film Awards. It also received five Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Music Director, and Best Cinematography at the 59th Filmfare Awards. After that, GV Prakash Kumar went on to compose music for many other successful films like "JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai," "Naan Sigappu Manithan," "Vanakkam Da Mappilei," and "Ayngaran."
Recently, he composed music for the Tamil film "Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam," an action film directed by M. Muthaiah. The movie starred Arya, Siddhi Idnani, Prabhu, Madhusudhan Rao, Aadukalam Naren, Bhagyaraj, and Singampuli in important roles. He is also working on the music for the upcoming film "Captain Miller," which stars Dhanush in the lead role. The film is a period action-adventure written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sendhil and Arjun Thyagarajan.
