Praveen Kumar, a former Indian cricket player known for his bowling skills, and his son were involved in a car accident in Meerut, where they reside. Thankfully, both of them escaped the incident without any injuries. The accident occurred when their SUV collided with a trailer truck on Tuesday night.
Praveen Kumar expressed gratitude that the situation wasn't worse and credited it to divine intervention. He mentioned that he was dropping off his nephew when the large truck hit his car from behind at around 9:30 pm. He acknowledged that the damage to the car was significant and initially thought only the bumper was affected.
The incident brought back memories of another cricketer, Rishabh Pant, who had a terrible car crash in December of the previous year. Pant had been hospitalized due to the accident, which occurred near Roorkee in Uttarakhand. His car collided with a road divider and caught fire, resulting in severe damage. He has been out of cricket since then and is expected to make a comeback next year.
Praveen Kumar, aged 36, had an impressive cricket career, representing India in six Tests, 68 ODIs, and ten T20Is from 2007 to 2012. He took 27, 77, and eight wickets in the respective formats. He retired in October 2018 at the age of 32, accepting that his time in cricket had come to an end.
One of Praveen's notable achievements was his contribution to India's victory in the ODI tri-series in Australia in 2008, where he played a crucial role in defending a target of 258 runs. He dismissed prominent players like Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting and finished with figures of 4 for 46 in the second final. He also had a significant impact during the Test series in England in 2011, where he emerged as India's leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets in three matches. His notable performance included a five-wicket haul (5 for 106) at Lord's, earning him a spot on the honors board. He also had a memorable moment in T20 cricket, achieving a hat-trick while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Rajasthan Royals in 2010.
Currently, Praveen runs a real estate business and owns a restaurant in his hometown of Meerut.
