Neetu Kapoor recently revealed some surprising details about her late husband, actor Rishi Kapoor, during an episode of Koffee With Karan 8. Neetu, who appeared on Karan Johar's show with Zeenat Aman, reminisced about the time when she and Rishi were dating. She shared that Rishi was a strict boyfriend and didn't allow her to party too much. Neetu recalled the late-night parties during her shoots with Yash Chopra but mentioned that she couldn't fully enjoy them because of Rishi's restrictions.
Despite having a great time with Yash Chopra and enjoying activities like playing antakshari and dumb charades, Neetu revealed that she never experienced the wild side of partying due to Rishi's conservative approach. She explained how Rishi would always set boundaries, instructing her on what not to do and urging her to come home early.
Neetu expressed the challenges of being torn between her commitment to Rishi and the strict upbringing from her mother. The couple dated before getting engaged in April 1979 and eventually tying the knot on January 22, 1980. After their marriage, Neetu stepped back from acting to focus on their family. They had two children, Riddhima and Ranbir Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor battled leukemia for two years and received treatment in New York, where Neetu and Ranbir supported him. Alia Bhatt, now married to Ranbir, also visited them. Despite returning to India in 2019, Rishi was hospitalized in Mumbai in April 2020 and passed away.
During the show, Neetu also shared that the final years with Rishi, despite the health challenges, were some of the most memorable years of her life.
