Call to Make Kannada Film Daredevil Tax-free and Support Local Cinema

The Kannada film Daredevil Musthafa, directed by Shashank Sohgal and based on a screenplay by Puranchandra Tejaswi, was released on May 18 and has received positive reviews from both audiences and critics. The film aims to promote harmony among different communities and shed light on racial intolerance in society.

The makers of Daredevil Musthafa have requested tax exemption for the film from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah, considering its social message. Director Shashank Sohgal and screenwriter Chintan met Siddaramiah personally to make this request. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the tax exemption decision.

To make the film more accessible, the production team has already reduced the cost of movie tickets. Shashank Sohgal shared a customised poster on Twitter announcing the discounted ticket prices. Daredevil Musthafa is priced at 50 and 75 rupees for single screens and available for just INR 99 in multiplexes.

It's worth mentioning that the previous BJP government in Karnataka granted tax exemption to another film, The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.

Before the assembly elections, the previous BJP government organized free screenings of The Kerala Story, a controversial film often labeled as right-wing propaganda. This event took place just before the Congress party came into power.

Daredevil Musthafa stars Aashith, Mysore Anand, and Aditya Ashree.
