Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested for Stealing ATM in Pulwama

Three people from Bangladesh have been captured for their involvement in a case of stealing an ATM in Pulwama, a district in south Kashmir. The stolen ATM was discovered buried in an orchard, where the criminals had dug a hole to hide it.

The incident took place on April 8, when unknown burglars stole an ATM near Government Degree College in Pulwama. In response, the police filed a case (FIR No. 78/2023) under applicable laws and initiated an investigation. To expedite the inquiry, a Special Investigation Team was formed.

"After analyzing digital and circumstantial evidence, and conducting focused examinations of suspects, we identified and subsequently arrested an international gang of thieves from Bangladesh, who have been previously involved in similar crimes," stated the police.

The arrested individuals are Suman Mal, Farooq Ahmad Ali, and Mohd Ibrahim, all residents of Bangladesh. Suman Mal is believed to be the leader of the gang. Acting on their information, the stolen ATM machine was recovered from a pit in an orchard located in Dogam Kakapora.

The gang has admitted to committing similar ATM thefts in other places over the past years. It has also been revealed that they started operating in South Kashmir earlier this year.

With the arrests made, the police are conducting further investigations into the case and anticipate more arrests in the future.
