BJP Claims 'New Muslim League' Emerges Following Karnataka Cabinet's Decision to Repeal Anti-conversion Law

The BJP strongly reacted to the decision made by the Congress government in Karnataka to repeal the anti-conversion law that was previously introduced. They referred to the Congress-led outfit as the "new Muslim League" and questioned if it is a "store of love" for Mr. Rahul Gandhi. Basanagouda R Patil (Yatnal), a senior BJP leader and former Union Minister, expressed these views on Twitter. He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of having an "anti-Hindu agenda" and suggested that the withdrawal of the Anti-Conversion Law was influenced by the Conversion Mafia. According to BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi, the Conversion Mafia in Karnataka ensures that the Congress repeals the anti-conversion law brought in by the previous BJP government. Ravi alleged that the Congress is acting like the new Muslim League and is willing to go to any extent to harm Hindus.

In the recent cabinet meeting, the Karnataka government decided to repeal the anti-conversion law that was introduced by the BJP government. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil confirmed this decision, stating that the cabinet approved the bill to repeal the changes made by the BJP government in 2022. The bill will be presented during the upcoming session starting from July 3. The 'Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act' (anti-conversion law) was enacted in 2022 to protect the freedom of religion and prevent unlawful conversions through misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement, or fraudulent means.
