The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi in important roles and has already crossed Rs 100 crore globally. Anjali Anand, who played the character of Ranveer Singh's sister, Gayatri, in the film, shared her experience of working with the renowned actress Jaya Bachchan.
In an interview with India Today, Anjali Anand praised Jaya Bachchan, stating that people's perception of her is wrong. She described Jaya ji as the sweetest and cutest person she has ever met, who behaves like a child on set. Jaya Bachchan is loving, caring, and goes out of her way to make sure everyone is well-fed, even opening her tiffin boxes for others.
Anjali Anand also revealed that despite Jaya Bachchan's serious public image, she is a fun and playful person on set. During a scene, Jaya Bachchan was in tears because Anjali was crying, showing her warmth and emotion.
Anjali expressed her admiration for Dharmendra's presence on set and had kind words for filmmaker Karan Johar, who made her feel at ease during the shoot. Karan even sang along on the microphone, making her laugh.
Regarding her iconic rendition of the Gup Chup song in the movie, Anjali Anand shared the backstory. The specific song wasn't decided when she read the script, and some of the assistant directors were not familiar with it. Anjali helped them learn the lyrics, and the song seamlessly blended into the scene.
In the film, Jaya Bachchan portrayed the authoritative grandmother of Anjali Anand and Ranveer Singh's characters and was against Rocky's potential engagement with Rani due to their different cultural backgrounds. On the other hand, Anjali's character undergoes a transformation, finding her voice after years of being under strict control.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar, has been well-received by the audience and has earned over Rs 73 crore in its opening week.
