Why Madhuri Dixit Turned Down a Role in Hum Saath Saath Hain Because of This Scene with Salman Khan

Madhuri Dixit, a famous Bollywood actress known for her amazing acting and dancing, was offered a role in the movie "Hum Saath Saath Hain" by director Sooraj Barjatya. She was asked to play the character Sadhna, which was originally portrayed by Tabu. Madhuri declined the role because of a particular scene involving Salman Khan.

In an interview with Rediff.com, Madhuri explained that in the movie, there was a scene where Salman Khan touches Tabu's feet and hugs her, creating a brother-in-law and sister-in-law relationship. Madhuri felt that, given her previous romantic role with Salman in "Hum Aapke Hain Koun," the audience might not accept this change in their relationship. She said, "If you put me in Tabu's place and visualize Salman touching my feet, I think people would have hooted in the theatres."

Sooraj Barjatya wanted to cast Madhuri in the film but struggled to find a suitable role for her. Madhuri believed that after her leading role in "Hum Aapke Hain Koun," she couldn't play smaller roles like Karisma Kapoor or Sonali Bendre. She wanted her next film with Sooraj to be a step forward, not a step back.

After discussions, Madhuri had to step away from the project, and Tabu eventually played the role, receiving appreciation from the audience.

In another interview, Saif Ali Khan, who was also part of the movie, described the experience of working on "Hum Saath Saath Hain" as exhausting. He had to maintain a happy and positive demeanor throughout the film, which was a challenge for him.

The film featured a star-studded cast, including Mohnish Bahl, Neelam, Mahesh Thakur, Reema Lagoo, and Alok Nath.
