Surat's Famous 'Locho' With Pav: A Unique Combination

Ever heard of 'locho'? It's a unique dish from Gujarati cuisine, well-known in Surat. Made from gram flour, it stands out due to its playful texture and distinct dumpling-like shape. Unlike regular cut pieces, this dish is a favorite breakfast option in Surat, often enjoyed with chutney and masala. But recently, there's been an unusual twist that Suratis aren't thrilled about—someone added Pav (bread rolls) to it!

A video on Instagram revealed the unconventional use of Pav in making Locho. First, they drizzled mayonnaise on one side of the Pav and spread chutney on the other. Then, instead of the usual Vada, they used a spoonful of Locho, topping it with more sauce, cheese, and sev.

This unexpected combination didn't sit well with many people! The comments were filled with disapproval. One person humorously said, "Pav: misusing my powers," while another joked, "The authentic locho is feeling depressed now." Another comment creatively said, "Locha with locho has happened."

Before the 'locho with Pav' controversy, a Pune food stall introduced 'Misal Pizza.' This creation combined the flavors of 'misal' arranged on pizza bread, garnished with cheese and sauces. This quirky dish added to the ongoing trend of unexpected food fusions, causing more skepticism among food enthusiasts.

In a viral video, the vendor showcased the process of making Misal Pizza. They spread sauce on pizza bread, added namkeen, matki, chopped onions, and coriander—basically, everything that makes up 'misal.' The final touch included mozzarella cheese and red paprika before baking it, creating an intriguing flavor combination that pushes taste boundaries.
