Sanjay Dutt Invests in Alcobev Startup Cartel & Bros

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has invested in a new alcobev startup called Cartel & Bros. The company aims to introduce premium liquor brands to the Indian market through imports and retail channels. The venture is led by Mokksh Sani, who is also a partner at the liquor retail chain Living Liquidz. Their first product is a blended Scotch whisky named Glenwalk, and they plan to expand their offerings with vodka, tequila, and single malt in the future.

Cartel & Bros has secured a factory lease in Scotland and intends to offer their products at competitive prices to attract a wider group of young consumers. They emphasize their commitment to providing accessible and quality Scotch to the market. Despite the challenges posed by complex regulations, state-level taxation, and price control in the alcobev industry, Sani believes in the potential of India's young consumer base, stating that Indian consumers are open to experimentation.

Sanjay Dutt's investment in Cartel & Bros reflects a growing trend of Indian actors diversifying their portfolios by investing in startups. Other Bollywood stars like Sunil Shetty, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor have also shown interest in the alcobev sector by investing in similar ventures. This is not Dutt's first investment as he already holds a stake in Cyber Media (India) Limited. Several actors in India have been investing in various sectors, such as Akshay Kumar's investment in Two Brothers Organic Farm and The Good Glamm Group, and actress Samantha Prabhu's investment in Nourish You, a D2C superfoods startup.
