Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to congratulate them on Chandrayaan-3's successful moon landing. Even when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he valued science and its impact on society.
Back in his Gujarat days, when Chandrayaan-1 was launched in 2008, Narendra Modi visited the Space Application Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad to personally congratulate the scientists. He praised their work and acknowledged their role in the success. He also invited the scientists, including retirees, for dinner to celebrate the achievement.
In 2009, Modi organized an event called "Sneh-milan" for the families of SAC and PRL scientists. He honored them for their contribution to Chandrayaan-1's success and invited them to an exhibition as part of Vibrant Summit-2009.
During the 2009 Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Modi hosted a science-focused program where renowned scientists, even Nobel laureates, met him.
Modi also developed Gujarat Science City to encourage the youth's interest in science.
PM Modi believes that scientific progress can uplift underprivileged lives. He thinks science matters not only for national recognition but for everyday life improvements. He's proud of India's achievements in space science and used technology to address various issues like education, farming, and fishing.
He used EDUSAT to train teachers and even spoke to primary school students through it. He initiated the Kalpsaar project using satellites to create a freshwater reservoir for irrigation. He recognized how satellites helped fishermen, and he emphasized that space science benefits humanity's well-being.
