Dinesh Phadnis, known for playing Fredericks in the popular show CID, passed away on Monday night. According to E-Times, he died around midnight. His funeral will be held today.
Since December 2, Dinesh Phadnis had been on a ventilator. Initially, there were reports of a heart attack, but his co-star Dayanand Shetty clarified that this wasn't the case. Dayanand, who played Senior Inspector Daya in CID, mentioned that Phadnis was under observation and it was a different medical situation.
CID, a famous detective series, aired from 1998 to 2018, becoming one of India's longest-running TV shows. Dinesh portrayed Fredericks, cherished for his comedic timing and banter with Shivaji Satam's ACP Pradyuman.
Apart from acting, Phadnis wrote episodes for CID and appeared as his character on the show "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah." He also had roles in movies like "Sarfarosh" and "Super 30," and contributed to a Marathi film.
