Alia Bhatt recently responded to people on the internet calling Ranbir Kapoor 'toxic' and a 'red flag.' Some time ago, there was uproar after Alia mentioned that Ranbir disapproved of her wearing lipstick and would ask her to remove it. While Ranbir addressed this issue earlier, Alia shared her views on the controversy during an episode of Koffee With Karan 8. She mentioned that the online portrayal of Ranbir differs greatly from who he truly is.
During the conversation, Karan Johar brought up Alia's frequent mentions of Ranbir. Alia expressed her reluctance to discuss him further, stating, "That's why I try not to talk about him much." When asked about her thoughts on the controversy, she explained, "I tend to speak openly, using anecdotes and personal stories. Sometimes things get taken out of context, which happened recently."
Alia reflected on the situation when articles began portraying Ranbir as a 'toxic' person, feeling upset due to the misunderstandings. She emphasized that he is the opposite of what's being portrayed. Karan agreed, stating that Ranbir is not what he's being made out to be. Alia mentioned Ranbir's viewpoint that public opinion matters more when your movies are doing well, a perspective she endorsed. Kareena Kapoor, another guest on the show, echoed similar sentiments.
Ranbir also addressed the issue during a Zoom chat with his fans last month, aligning himself with those fighting against toxic masculinity. He acknowledged that if people want to use him as a figure for their cause, he's willing because the fight against toxic masculinity is bigger than his personal feelings about public opinion.
